Tearlach Wilson

Dh’ionnsaich Teàrlach a ‘Ghàidhlig na inbheach, ach bhon uair ’ud, tha air a bhith beò sa a’ chànan. Às dèidh crìoch a chur air PHD ann an Gàidhlig, ghluais e a Leòdhas. Bha e airson an taigh-cèilidh ath-dhùsgadh san Eilean, mar spèis dhan choimhearsnachd a chur fàilte chridheil air fhèin. ’S e an t-amas aig Teàrlach gun tog e àite cruinneachaidh far am faod coimhearsnachd na Gàidhlig a thighinn còmhla a’ comharrachadh an dualchas agus far an tèid luchd-ionnsachaidh a bhogadh sa chànan, sna nòsan agus san dualchas.

After completing a PhD in Gaelic, he moved to the Isle of Lewis where he wanted to reintroduce the cèilidh house as a gift to the community for their welcome and their support. Teàrlach’s goal is to create a safe space where the Gaelic community can come together and celebrate their identity and culture, while learners can experience full immersion and learn more than just how to speak Gaelic – but also to learn Gaelic traditions.

Bha Mìcheal fortanach a bhith air a bhogadh sa chànan agus anns a’ chultar nuair a bha e a’ fuireach ann an Glaschu, le cuideachadh bho nàbaidh à Tiriodh. Bhon uairsin, tha e air a bhith an sàs ann an iomadh pròiseact airson maith na Gàidhlig agus tha e air leth toilichte a bhith ag obair còmhla ri ATC, a tha a’ cur gu mòr, ann an dòigh Ghàidhealach, ris a’ choimhearsnachd agus ris a’ chànan.

Michael was lucky to be immersed in the language and culture while living in Glasgow, thanks to the help of a neighbour from Tiree. Since then, he has been involved in many projects to promote the Gaelic language and is especially happy to be working with ATC, which, in true Gàidhealach spirit, is making a positive contribution to the community and to the language.
